Mahatma Gandhi holds full name as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was well known as Bapu and Father of the Nation, because of the achievement he contributed towards Indian Independence movement.

Born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, India. He played multi-roles of lawyer, politician, social activist and a writer. His list of achievements and contributions adds up in good number. He became nationalist movement supporting the liberation of India from British by simple equipment of Satyagraha and Non-Violence. He set an example for different political leaders like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King.

Some of the schools and many places in India hold the honor to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti by conducting many cultural activities and events, in order to remember his greatness and contribution made. In the prayer session societies and school plays his favorite bhajan (devotional song) ‘ragupati raghav raja ram’. There are debates, elocution organized in schools in memory of Gandhi ji and also to promote his views and ideas in today’s youth.
Gandhi ji was awarded by TIME magazine as the person of the year in 1930. He was also opted for Noble Peace Prize several times but was not awarded for it.
On the day of Gandhi Jayanti, we should remember a man who is simple and down to earth changed many things. He proved that with kindness, truth, nonviolence, simplicity, and peace even the biggest problem can be solved in a better way. His non-violent methods proved highly influential in the number of activities and moments, which are witnessed by all of us.
