Our country has been Independent on this day from the rule of British Crown. 15 August 1947, is date remembered by all the Indians as it got independent from United Kingdom after 200 years. 

UK Parliament supported and passed Indian Independence Act in 1947 handing over legislative jurisdiction to Indian Constituent Assembly. There are many national heroes who made remarkable performance in independence of India. They sacrificed and made many attempts before succeeding on this day.

Under the rule of British, India was suffering from the violence and discrimination of Hindus and Muslims. When the British Prime Minister, Clement Attlee, decided to hand over India to Indian people. He held a meeting with Jawaharlal Nehru, leader of Congress Party, and with Mohammad Ali Jinnah who was leader of Muslim league. 



He realized Hindus and Muslims are divided among themselves due to religion issues.  The Muslim League wanted partition from India, as there were lot of violence caused between Hindus and Muslims and it was not possible for them to stay in one country holding each other hand. This called separation between two countries on the midnight of 14-15 August 1947.



Mahatma Gandhi was a powerful source for ending British Rule and awakening Independent India. He done peaceful marches and boycotted many international things. He was truly an iconic man who sacrificed his career, his wealth, his house but never gave up morals and rules. 

He has been given title of father of nation which he has earned it by giving contribution on great height for republic and democratic India. Bhagat Sing was very influential revolutionary hero who made contribution in independence movement. He awakened the youth of nation who further contributed in Independence of India. Chandra Shekhar azad one of the greatest freedom fighter who contributed in Young revolutionaries like Bhagat Sing and Sukhdev also established Jhansi Camp. 

Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmi Bai, Mangal Pandey, Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel, Bahadur shah Jafar, Annie Besant, Jawarhlal Nehru are some names which are still remembered in our nation with pride and honor their sacrifices.



Independence Day is celebrated throughout India with pride and happiness. On this day President of India hosts Indian Flag on the historical stage of Red Fort Delhi. Tribute is given by firing twenty one gun shots. National anthem is sung and speech by the Prime minister gives us glimpse of some past activities. 

Even in schools, colleges, government offices, non-governmental offices and in some societies cultural programs are held and Flag hosting is done. Some important offices are decorated with lights while in some parts of Delhi they celebrate the occasion by flying kites.



If you want to experience their inner joy and patriotism among the people you should definitely visit some historical places. In Delhi where you can visit Red fort, a great monument in part of freedom struggle. There are Sound and Light shows held in Hindi as well as English which adds beauty along with flashback of history. Rajghat is place in delhi which is homage to Mahatma Gandhi. 

In Ahmedabad visit Sabarmati Ashram where Gandhi trained activist to join him. Cellular Jail in Port Blair, at Andaman and Nicobar Islands. You can see amazing sound and light shows there recreating stories of past. Chandra Shekhar Azad Park in Allahabad, Jhansi ka Quila located at Jhansi. Managal Pandey Garden located in north Kolkata and August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai where Gandhi called for Quit India Moment in 1942.
