Chinese New Year is generally referred to as lunar new year, celebrated all over the world. It's the most significant occasion in China and to Chinese individuals everywhere. In China, people called it chunjie or the spring festival. countries like North Korea, South Korea, and Vietnam celebrate it as well because the Spring Festival goes according to the lunar calendar.

According to the Lunar calendar, the Spring Festival is on January 1st and lasts until the 15th of the full moon. Chinese New Year begins between 21 January and 20 February. In the year 2021, the first day of the Chinese New Year will be on Friday, 12 February, Chinese New Year is associated with several myths and customs.

The Spring festival Celebration was initially a ceremonial day to pray to god beings for a decent planting and reap season. Chinese New Year's Day is habitually viewed as an event for Chinese families to assemble for the yearly get-together supper.

Sweeping and throwing out the garbage aren’t allowed before the 5th. This is just to make sure you don’t wash away good luck.

As indicated by stories and According to tales and legends, the beginning of the Chinese New Year started with a mythical beast called the Nian during the annual Spring Festival. The Nian would eat villagers, particularly kids in night. So the villagers decided to go hide from the beast.

An old man, Yanhuang, appeared before the villagers went into hiding and said that he would stay the night, and would get revenge on the Nian. Then the old man set off firecrackers and put red papers up, the day after, the villagers came back to their town and saw that nothing had been destroyed.

After that incident, the villagers then understood that Yanhuang had discovered that the Nian was afraid of the color red and loud noises. So after this incident, the tradition grew that when New Year was approaching, the villagers would wear red clothes, hang red lanterns, and red spring scrolls on windows and doors. villagers used firecrackers to frighten away the Nian.
