Friendship Day is dedicating a day in honor of friends that people used to celebrate for their friendship. In most of countries, the first Sunday of August is celebrated as friendship day. It was first celebrated in 1958 in Paraguay as the "International Friendship Day. Friendship Day is celebrated in various countries of the world including India.

Normally on this day people spend their time with friends and express love for them. The General Assembly of the United Nations declared, 30 July as official International Friendship Day In 2011. Friendship Day celebrations are especially marked in schools and universities in India. The euphoria of the day sets in days before the festival as everybody gets excited to wish their best friends in their own special way.

Children make Friendship Day Cards or another special gift to thank their friends for their wonderful presence in their life. Exchange of Friendship Bands is the most important feature of Friendship Day celebrations. In several universities, special programs are also organized to mark the occasion. Most of these programs and events intended to give youth an opportunity to dance and sing with friends and have a good time.

As Followed by the western countries, youth in India too mark Friendship Day by participating in Friendship Day parties or organizing bashes for their friends. Majorly the crowd for this day can be seen in a disco and pubs where people dance with friends on fast pace music.

Such kind of parties also gives youth a chance to make new friends and widen their friendship circle. At present such bashes are mostly popular among the metro cities and other big towns, however, youth in small towns too are warming up to the idea of partying on Friendship Day.
